First Place 4 Health Questions

We will have three First Place 4 Health Change Your Life Events the first three Saturdays in April. Vicki Heath, Erin DuBroc and I will be present at all three events and are excited to share about all the facets of the new program. This month each of us will try to answer some of the questions we have received on our website the last few months. I’ve been told the program is changing this summer. Can you please give me details and how to get the material?  First Place will become First Place 4 Health June 10th, with all new materials and DVD’s. You may pre-order now from Gospel Light with a 10% discount and free shipping. When will the new materials be released?  The ship date is June 10, 2008. Will the new materials be shared at the Leadership Summit in July?  Yes. All materials will be available

The NEW First Place 4 Health Live it Food Plan – FAQ

Now that the word is out about how First Place will soon become First Place 4 Health, many of you have sent me emails or called to ask questions regarding the Live It food plan. Will it still be called the Live It? (Yes.) What exactly has changed and why? (Quite a few things so keep reading!) For this month’s article, I’ve compiled some of the most frequently asked questions to hopefully cover the broad bases of what, where, how and why. Any questions I fail to answer, please feel free to email them to me or consider attending one of our Change Your Life Events this month or our annual Leadership Summit in July. I’ve heard the new food plan will not be using the American Diabetic Association’s (ADA) Diabetic Exchange Plan. Why not and what will be replacing it? We have chosen to move away from the diabetic

Variety is the Spice of Life

Do you need a change in your exercise routine?  Sometimes we can get bored with what we are doing and we don’t work as hard because it’s the “same old thing.”  Variety is the spice of life, they say, and that is true in exercise, too.  Do you know that your muscles can actually “get bored”, too?  They respond well to change. In the exercise industry, the recommendation is to do “cross training.”  Simply put, this means that on different days, do different types of exercise.  You can vary your mode of exercise, such as walking one day, biking the next, going to a fitness class like Body & Soul, or working with the First Place Moving to the Word DVD’s, and then finishing your week with swimming on the weekend.  If that seems too complicated, even when you choose only walking you can vary things. Walk a different route

Progress, Not Perfection

I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!.  – Galatians 2:21 You can find how-to books on just about anything you want to know more about—how to see your home, how to lose weight in 10 days, how to love yourself more, how to save more and spend less. Books are written every day suggesting that we can be better if only we follow the book’s directions. Isn’t God awesome for giving us an owner’s manual for ourselves? Reading the Word teaches us about God and how to be His disciples. We learn that no matter how perfect we try to be, it’s not our perfection that God longs for. No, He wants our heart. He longs for our attention and devotion. Our works and deeds will never achieve righteousness. We can be the best of

New Group Leader in Waupaca, Wisconsin

New Group Leader in Waupaca, Wisconsin

Ruth Diefenthaler is a new leader in Waupaca, Wisconsin. She has been so faithful and has been obedient to the call to step out in leadership. The Lord has grown this group to two, and is really making an impact in her area. These two groups lost a total of 190 lbs. from May – August of 2007. Each person donated their individual amount of weight loss in food products for the area food pantry. These sweet leaders travelled to an Area Leader’s Meeting on a Saturday in January (a 2 1/2 hour drive) when the wind chill was -35. That’s commitment! 1st photo: Ruth Diefenthaler (40 lbs.), Tammy Siekert, Caroldean Bergen (6 lbs.), Jere Onsgard (33 lbs.), Charlotte Onsgard (20+ lbs.), Ruth Allen (3 lbs.), Carol Lea (7 lbs.), Shelley Henke (20 lbs.), Becky Snell (40 lbs.) 2nd photo: Farrah Wolfe (5 lbs.), Gail Draeger (20 lbs.), Mary Strobusch (31 lbs.),
