Who's in First Place?

Most people join First Place 4 Health because they want to lose weight.  There are many reasons why they want to lose weight, and looking better in their clothes is right up at the top of the list.  Others are motivated to lose weight after a doctor’s visit reveals high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease or diabetes. It takes a while for us to realize that the only sustaining reason for losing weight and keeping it off is to bring Jesus Christ glory with our lives.  In First Place 4 Health our goal is to learn how to give Jesus Christ first place in every area of our lives: spiritual, mental, emotional and physical. 100-Calorie Swaps at Breakfast

 Switch to lean turkey sausage instead of regular sausage.  Choose a mini bagel instead of a regular-sized bagel. Request fat-free milk in your latte instead of whole milk. Make your veggie omelet with four egg whites instead of two whole eggs. Replace your usual yogurt with a light variety. Use fresh fruit instead of syrup on your waffles. Drink a glass of water instead of juice. Eat fresh fruit instead of dried. Have oatmeal instead of a bagel.   Next month – 100-Calorie Swaps when eating out!

I already had written several Bible studies and stories or devotionals for various compilations, and even a story in a novella, but nothing in a novel. I voiced this desire several times over the years, and one of my First Place 4 Health members started praying for me and my writing. When Carole Lewis introduced us to Give God a Year, I decided to try it and see how God would work. In January 2009, I made the list of things for my part, and then God’s part.
