Double Your Impact, Double Your Good-UPDATE

Double Your Impact, Double Your Good-UPDATE

I am so honored to lead such a generous ministry of people with one goal – Putting Christ First in everything! Early in spring we set a goal of matching a $25,000 donation by August 1. God has been amazingly moving among His people the last few months. He worked in many incredible ways to help us raise funds for our new materials. One group had a huge garage sale where their FP4H group collected and donated items. They were so clever at the sale by not pricing the items. They told people it was a fund raiser and to consider whatever they paid for the item as a donation.  It saved them time and they feel certain people paid more because they knew it was going to a good cause. Another group hosted a FP4H Fun “5K” fundraiser for their Victory Celebration. All of the class participated in various

Best Summit Ever!

Best Summit Ever!

When I arrived in Atlanta for Summit 2017, God was already at work overcoming the enemy’s numerous obstacles. Our event coordinator’s car was booted when she stepped away from her car to find me at the bus station. No problem! She handled it with a credit card and a “Have a blessed day” to the tow-truck operator. Two of the 23 boxes of merchandise were redirected back to Texas because of a label issue.  No problem! Our staff and volunteers knew the situation and didn’t buy anything until after everyone else had first choice. Our host church experienced a flurry of funerals and illnesses the week before the event.  No problem! Others stepped in to help. God worked in and through many lives during our time at Summit. Here are my top five God sightings: #5     Crossroads Church’s outstanding hospitality. Their culture to serve others unconditionally rippled through their staff, volunteers,

What First Place 4 Health Has Meant to Me

What First Place 4 Health Has Meant to Me

I joined First Place in 1981 because I had once again gained back the 20 pounds I lost the last time I dieted.  The program was offered at my church and I thought it was a great idea to be in a group with friends from church. Little did I know that this program would be used by God to radically change my life in every area: Spiritual, Mental, Emotional and Physical.  I have learned what it means to live a balanced life in every area through the truths written into First Place 4 Health materials.  It didn’t happen quickly; it has taken years to learn the lessons I needed to learn and to change from the inside out.  Here are some of the highlights of what the program means to me. Spiritual.  I learned how to pray when I began writing in a prayer journal in 1990.  My journals were

Just Tell Me What To Eat

Just Tell Me What To Eat

“Just tell me what to eat.” Have you ever said that? “Just give me a list and tell me what to do.” Or maybe you’ve thought about how nice it would be if someone would make a delicious, healthy meal and set it in front of you every time it was time to eat. Well, there’s a place where they do that. At Wellness Week in Round Top! Every year we make delicious meals that are filling and healthy. We have a breakfast bar that is available all day—full of wonderful things for breakfast and snacks—the things you know you should keep available in your own home, but don’t seem to have the time. There are fruits, yogurt, cereals, peanut butter, whole-grain breads, boiled eggs, flavored teas, coffee and fruit-infused water available all day long. It makes eating healthy so easy, but also enjoyable. During the week, in her afternoon

Top Five Reasons to Attend Wellness Week

Top Five Reasons to Attend Wellness Week

It is an experience that reaches us right where we are when we step foot in the retreat center—if we are ready to learn,  if we need to feel closer to God, if we are looking for a way to implement healthy eating habits or if we are looking for ways to exercise at our own personal level. If we arrive feeling hopeless, there are lifelines waiting for us when we get there! There is always someone available to talk through areas in which we may be stuck.. Wellness Week is an opportunity to hear from others about how their health journey has changed their life; that inspires me.  Wellness Week teaches us it is ok to “not get it right” all the time. I love arriving and meeting the first timers. I am so excited for them, because I know they will not be the same when they leave,
