It’s been a long time since someone asked me what I wanted for Christmas. It’s been a long time since I made a Christmas list like when I was a little girl. I have decided this year I am going to change that; I’m making a list and submitting it to my heavenly Father who is in the business of giving. He gave His throne to Jesus, and Jesus is there at the right hand of the Father, telling our heavenly Father just what we need. He is the giver of every good and perfect gift (see James 1:17).
The main thing I want: an MHVR player—a Mind and Heart Video Recorder to permanently record impressions on my mind and heart. If I could just capture Christmas moments in my mind and heart forever! If I could just keep my children small! If I could always have focused thoughts on Jesus, God’s perfect gift! If I could record the smiles, laughter, lights and stars . . . permanently!
I am asking God to give me a heart to remember others and to remember the best things about my family, not focus on the dysfunctional things. I am asking God for an abundance of grace, love and mercy. I am asking God to renew my mind by the power of the Holy Spirit that I may have a new way of thinking this year and that it might be permanent! I believe God wants to bless His children at Christmas, so I’m asking!
“If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!” (Matthew 7:11). How about you? What do you want for Christmas? He is on His throne just waiting to hear.
Prayer: Father God, please give me a heart that loves others with Your love. And while You’re at it, please give me an abundance of Your grace and mercy. And please make it permanent!
Journal:When it comes to your heavenly Father, you’re never too old to make a Christmas wish list. Just remember to ask Him to tell You what’s on His heart and write it down. The Holy Spirit will take it from there!
