Our Bible studies follow a 9 or 12-week session and include 8 or 10 weeks of personal Bible study, a member survey, a personal weight and measurement record, weekly prayer partner forms, Jump Start menus and recipes, Live It Trackers, and a Let’s Count Our Miles! exercise chart.

Finding Your Victory

Seek God First, the first in a series of Bible studies created for First Place for Health. In The Joy Adventure, we’ll explore what it means to experience joy.  Is it an emotional feeling or something much deeper? And where do we find it? How do we sustain it? Happiness is based on circumstances and perception. As high as we can feel when we are happy, we can also experience enormous depressing depths when happiness fades.

Beyond Free

In Beyond Free, we’ll study the power of obedience and what holds us in the chains of defeat. Galatians 5:1 offers a past-tense promise with a present tense punch. Motivated to Wellness

Motivated to Wellness, will give you hope and encouragement to keep pressing toward your goals of living a healthy, balanced life. Whenever you take steps to make a change in your life (or even just continue on the path to balanced living that you have already begun), you will be met with opposition and challenges that will attempt to derail your efforts. Instead of grasping the full life that Jesus intends you to have (see John 10:10), you will be tempted to give in to discouragement and just quit. However, it is at these times that you need to draw on the principles of Scripture to fill you with hope and enable you to continue pursuing your goals of physical and spiritual fitness. Motivated to Wellness will guide you through these principles and help you to follow the course that God has set for your life.

Stronger Every Day

Forever Changed

Forever Changed, a First Place for Health Bible study, will show you how our thoughts impact our attitudes, emotions, and behaviors from the moment we open our eyes in the morning to the minute we fall asleep at night. If we want to become the people God created us to be and experience life as He intended, it is essential for us to develop godly thinking patterns. This happens as we allow God to renew our minds, which is what this study is about. This session can be a significant stepping stone to the positive and permanent change you desire. You will identify several areas of your life commonly impacted by mistaken thinking and learn how to reframe or replace those thoughts with God’s truth. When your mind aligns with His truth, you will experience true freedom—which is the destiny He desires for everyone.

A Joy-Full Season is a six-week devotional that will inspire you to eat right and stay active through the winter holidays.

Balanced Living

Classic First Place 4 Health Bible study 

Have you ever ridden in a vehicle when the wheels were out of balance? The car will begin to vibrate at around 50 miles per hour, and this vibration will increase in intensity as you accelerate. Pretty soon, you will feel the vibration in the steering wheel, seats and floorboards, and instead of the tires spinning smoothly, they will literally “bounce” down the road. It’s a bumpy and uncomfortable ride, and the life of the tires, ball bearings, shock absorbers and other components will be much shorter than if the tires had been kept in perfect balance. Your life can get in the same shape as unbalanced wheels. If you forge ahead without a plan, you may first notice things are a bit shaky. The more you do and the faster you go, the louder and more intense the shaking becomes. Soon, you feel the effects in your home, your family, your job and your relationship with others and with God. Your quality of life is diminished, and you begin “wearing out.” In Balanced Living, you will learn how to regain the balance that God intended for each of us to have in all four areas of our lives: mental, physical, emotional and spiritual.

The Leader Resources will include a schedule, session outline, and links to videos created to support a specific Bible study. The session outlines suggest Wellness Spotlights, Homework, and Wellness Challenges.
