Sherrie Carroll

Sherrie Carroll

Sherrie Carroll is a loyal, passionate participant, leader, past Networking Leader and currently serves on our Advisory Council. She loves sharing about First Place with anyone and everyone. She started FP4H in 2003, leading a group and served as a Networking Leader for several years. After a couple of years “sabbatical”, after her and her husband lost three parents in 15-months, she returned to the program as a leader and slowly picked up where she left off. She lives on 60 acres in southern Michigan, surrounded by trees, nature and farm fields. Two hours can pass away very quickly while she watches 14 bird feeders and takes pictures of their feathered friends. Sherrie spends time in her sewing room making doll clothes and quilts for the Linus Project. She is most comfortable in work boots and flannel shirt, on a tractor, mowing, or trimming limbs off trees. Sherrie is blessed

Ken Hodgson

Ken discovered First Place For Health (FP4H) after years of struggling to lose weight on his own. After losing 35 pounds through a group in another church, he decided to bring the program to his own church. Ken maintains a 60-pound weight loss. Click here to read Ken’s Success Story. Ken’s passion is for helping others place Christ first and including others in his wellness journey. Ken identified leaders within his own group and helped them branch out and start their own groups. He is committed to getting the word out about FP4H. Ken serves on the FP4H board. He is a husband, dad, and most recently a grandpa. When he retired he took up Hiking. In January 2019 he completed his goal to climb the 48 mountains of New Hampshire in 52 weeks.  What a journey! 48 summits in 34 hikes 312 miles on the trail in 265 hours

Mary Ward

Mary Ward started her career in accounting but quickly turned to fitness after attending her first Body & Soul class. She now has 20+ years experience in the fitness industry, including teaching, marketing, merchandising, and management. Raised in San Diego, Mary loves sailing, beaches, sun and fitness. She lives in Chantilly with her husband Brad. Mary serves as the Chairperson for the FP4H Board of Directors. Mary Ward is a Certified Group Fitness Instructor through American Council on Exercise (ACE). She is also an ACE Faculty member leading various Continuing Education classes for fitness professionals. She is also certified through Refit®.  Mary is author and contributor for First Place For Health’s My Place for Fitness. Sherry Leggett

Sherry Leggett In her role as Assistant Director of Human Resources at Certified Angus Beef LLC, Sherry Leggett is actively involved in nurturing the heart of the company’s business – its people, who assist customers in marketing beef from Angus cattle farms to restaurants and grocery stores around the world. Sherry joined the staff in 2013 as the wellness and medical benefits manager, providing nearly 150 employees with wellness coaching to build on the healthy, positive, balanced and productive workplace. With more than 18 years of wellness experience, Sherry enjoys helping the employees through designing individual integrative programs and coordinating the company’s onsite physician, psychologist, lawyer, dietitian and financial wellness coach. Sherry has a true passion for helping people achieve a well-balanced life one interaction at a time, and in 2014, she was named a Top 100 Wellness Professionals in America by the Wellness Council of America. Debbie Brown

Debbie is Nationally recognized as a local church Fitness Ministry expert and respected by all know her.  Debbie is the Associate Director of Fitness & Recreation. She has been directing the Fitness Ministry at Houston’s First Baptist Church for 20+ years. Currently she leads a Dynamic Fitness Team of 15, and The Fitness and Recreation Center has over 1600 current members. Debbie enjoys seeing people transformed by realizing that exercise can be fun and that they can achieve their goals & connect with God simultaneously. The facility offers Group Exercise Classes, Personal Training, Small Group Training, a Start Smart Program and many outreach opportunities. Debbie’s favorite class to teach is Pilates. Debbie is married to Denny. They have a daughter, Jessica who is 31 and a 8-year old granddaughter, Chloe.

Charlotte Davis

Charlotte Davis has led First Place 4 Health groups in Arkansas churches since 1995 and says that she never plans to stop because God forever changed her life and her priorities through the program!  She has served as Arkansas Networking Leader for over 15 years and has also served as a speaker (and sometimes Worship Leader) for many national FP4H events including Summit and Wellness Week. Charlotte is a Registered, Licensed Dietitian, is credentialed as a School Nutrition Specialist, and works as the Child Nutrition Director for an Arkansas public school district of over 4000 students.  She has been married to Tony Davis since 1987 and they have two grown children (Kayla and Jake).  Her favorite activities include spending time/traveling with her family, serving on the Praise and Worship Team in her church, reading Christian literature, and cooking.

Hey Y’all, I’m Michelle Peters the 2019 Summit Coordinator! I have been a part of First Place for Health for almost 3 years and I currently teach classes at Houston’s First Baptist Church. During my first two sessions of First Place, under Carole Lewis’ leadership my passion for the program ignited. I currently maintain a 26-pound weight loss. I became a Networking Leader for Texas after attending Wellness Weeks and Summit ‘18. I love sharing what I’ve learned. I know God can use the good, the bad and the ugly of my life to reach others. I married my college sweetheart, Larry. We’ve been together for 35 years, raised 3 children, now married who all who live in Houston. Mark Heath

Mark Heath grew up as a typical preacher’s kid, church on Sunday, Wednesday, and any time in between. His love for ministry began at an early age. Mark went to California to pursue a degree from Biola University, in philosophy. To broaden his world view Mark spend two years in lovely Baghdad, Iraq managing operations for Millennium Relief and Development Services. Aside from leading worship at his church on Edisto Island, Mark’s primary ministry is supporting people with hurts, habits and hang-ups as Assistant Director of Celebrate Recovery. He will tell you he is the happiest depressed person he knows! He is currently working in business development in Charleston, South Carolina.
