No Excuses

No Excuses

This month we are going to focus on the next step to developing a lifetime of wellness –getting rid of the excuses!  There is a reason that you have not been doing what you know you need to do.  What is it?   Are you coming up with new excuses every time that exercise commitment rolls around?  Are you holding on to the excuse that you have decided you are just not athletic, that exercise is just too inconvenient, too hard? I saw a sign at a Reebok store that said, “There is an athlete in all of us.” I believe it!  However, most of us believe that we can’t be an athlete; there is no hope that we can exercise.  I believe that if you really want to do something, you will.  I have made myself available over the years to help individuals with exercise, to the point of stretching my schedule very thin. Why?  Because I believe

Give God a Year

Last month, I issued the challenge to “Give God A Year.” No sooner had I finished the article than I heard the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit whisper in my ear, “Will you give me a year and see what I can do in your life?” I had to pray about that for a day before I accepted the challenge to actually do what I had asked others to do. Seeds Sown for Good

…the one who sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers. “For good” could mean for a positive purpose or it could mean that it will last forever. In this title both things are intended. We can plant seeds that are for eternal benefit. What a great opportunity. I found an old garden patch in my back yard when we moved in over two years ago. The area was filled with rich mulch and obviously had been worked for several seasons. We planted seedlings our first spring. The plants did terrible, but we assumed that it was because we did

Re- jubilated

Wouldn’t we all like a fresh start? When I worked with university students, I was often asked if I would like to go back to that age and do things differently. My answer was yes and no. Yes, if I could possess the lessons I have learned from life and also have the energy of a young adult, but no, if it means go through it all again. Once is enough; however, a new beginning in the present, even with my scars and some regrets, would be welcomed. In the earliest days of the Jewish faith, many feasts, fasts and celebrations were introduced to them in order to keep their focus on their special relationship with Jehovah. One of these was the “Year of Jubilee.”   It was to occur every 50 years [starting the year after seven times seven years.] This was a year of rest and restoration. The land
