At First Place for Health, we believe committed, authentic community changes everything. Without someone to lean on when things get tough, we are often tempted to be too hard on ourselves, or even quit entirely. We’re able to press onward in the face of difficulty. We believe that after Christ, community is the most powerful catalyst for tangible, sustainable change in our health. It’s the difference-maker in nearly every area of our lives; as Ecclesiastes says, a cord of three strands is not easily broken. Walking hand-in-hand motivates us, encourages us, and unites us in our journey toward wellness. Here are three ways you can join a community of friends on your journey to wellness. Let’s get started!
Who can be a First Place for Health leader?
Anyone willing to allow Christ to lead them, can lead a First Place for Health group. It’s vital to remember that Jesus is the real leader of “your” group. “‘Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,’ says the Lord Almighty” (Zechariah 4:6). Don’t allow the enemy to discourage your desire to follow God’s promptings. Jesus uses ordinary people to do the extraordinary. You can confidently say, “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13, New Living Translation).
What does the leader need?
Also included in the Leader’s Kit is My Place for Leadership, your essential guide to lead your group in a transformative time of learning and genuine community. We’ve designed it to be simple and easy to follow with practical lesson plans, document samples, and reproducible forms. The digital downloads provide content and videos to use during your meetings.
What does the member need?
All members need the My Place Member’s Kit which includes a bible study, along with resources for nutrition, fitness, the basics about First Place for Health, and discovery of the triggers behind unhealthy habits. Members who have previously purchased the My Place Member’s Kit will continue to use their Member’s Kit contents and only need a new Bible study for each subsequent session. The leader will choose the Bible study for each session.
Where do I get support?
We accomplish this through a huge volunteer team of Regional Team Leaders who each oversee multiple states, dozens of Networking Leaders who oversee defined areas of states, and thousands of local leaders who lead First Place for Health groups throughout the world.
These men and women are the ones who respond to the need for Christ-centered weight-loss and wellness in their community. The First Place for Health Ministry would not exist if not for the dedicated work of these volunteers. To find a Regional or Networking Leader for your area, go here: Networking Leaders.
