We find balance in all four areas when we seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33). When we look at all the ways God wants us to fully love Him—connect with Him and serve Him—we see how everything fits into four areas—heart, soul, mind, and body (strength). No matter how lopsided, or empty, you look right now, do not despair. You will find help to address ALL areas of your life, bringing whole person wellness.

The emotional component helps us break free from destructive emotional strongholds related to food issues. Finding emotional healing requires the work of self-examination. God, through His Holy Spirit, will lead to the root problem of emotional over-eating. FP4H will provide the tools, but you will do the work—and God will be there every step of the way.
The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. – 2 Corinthians 10:4
In addition, we experience the support of others on the same journey. You are not designed to do life by yourself. Even Jesus surrounded Himself with close friends and a personal support system. Get connected and stay connected to your FP4H group.
Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves – Ecclesiastes 4:12.
Learning to love the Lord with all your soul means setting aside time to develop a relationship with Christ. The First Place for Health spiritual plan includes spending time with the Lord daily through Bible study, Scripture reading, and prayer.
There’s nothing like the written Word of God for showing you the way to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. Daily Scripture reading highlights the truth of God’s Word.
The words I have spoken to you—they are full of the Spirit and life (John 6:63).
Because God loves us and because of His mercy, we offer ourselves like a sacrifice. Paul called our living sacrifice a spiritual act of worship.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God—this is your spiritual act of worship – Romans 12:1
The battle for wellness starts in the mind—a new way of thinking. Many of us have believed negative things about our ability to change or exercise self-control or make healthy choices. We believe we will never successfully, permanently lose weight. We need to have our minds changed.
According to 2 Corinthians 10:3, we can
“demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and… take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.”
According to this verse, we can learn to separate God’s truth from the unhealthy or negative thought patterns we’ve fallen into or the lies we have believed.
You are living in the only physical body you will ever have on this earth. Taking care of your body is an act of stewardship and a way of honoring God who dwells within us through the Holy Spirit.
Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore, honor God with your bodies. 1 Corinthians 6:19.
Physical strength is found by:
- exercising daily—moving and stretching your body and
- eating well—choosing quality foods in appropriate quantities.
We care for our physical health so that we can enjoy the life He’s given us and have the strength and energy we need to accomplish all the things He’s called us to do.
