Pralking — A New Spiritual Exercise

Pralking -- A New Spiritual Exercise

I recently spent the day at a state park intent on seeking God. I arrived early in the morning to watch the sunrise and stayed until the sunset. I brought with me a hammock, camp chair, plenty of water, Bible, and a journal. At the last minute, I selected two prayer books  off my bookshelf I wanted to read and I set my phone on airplane mode to avoid the distraction of the world. I did check in with my husband twice during the day to assure him I was okay.

I was more than okay. I had a glorious day. After a walk and a holy nap, I soaked in the Word of God, then turned to my prayer books. One prayer prompt asked me the condition of my personal needs: physical, emotional, relational, and spiritual. I used the assessment in Chapter 3 of my book Restored! and determined I needed to increase my physical activity and my prayer time. No wonder I was prompted to bring the prayer books.

Spending the day focused on prayer reminded me that the greatest transformations in my life have taken place when I spent intentional time praying. Since I needed to increase my steps as well, I’ve decided to add pralking, prayer and walking, each day for at least 15 minutes.

Since we are at a crucial and exciting point for our First Place 4 Health ministry with the launch of our new materials later this year, I will boldly ask the Lord for the following:

  • Give Us Wisdom to make decisions for finalizing the new materials. Solomon prayed, Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours (2 Chronicles 1:10)?
  • Go With Us as we reach out to share the spiritual solution to the physical problem of overeating and obesity. Moses knew they needed God when he prayed, “If your Presence does not go with us, do not send us up from here (Exodus 33:15).
  • Give Us Success as we spend the funds donated by so many to create the new materials. Abraham’s chief servant was sent to find a wife for Isaac. He offered a prayer to the Lord as he approached the town where he would soon meet Rebekah. Lord, God of my master Abraham, make me successful today, and show kindness to my master Abraham (Genesis 24:12).
  • Enlarge Our Territory as we publicize and tour the country showcasing the new materials. Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, “Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain.” And God granted his request  (1 Chronicles 4:10).

Would you join me in praying and walking? Pray for the favor of the Spirit’s anointing for our ministry as we desire to: Transform lives by walking alongside one another on our journey toward whole person health, looking to Christ as the only source of true wellness.
