Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has gone, the new has come!
1 CORINTHIANS 5:17
I was flipping through the television channels one afternoon when I spotted these words that always catch my eye, “extreme makeover.” Then I saw him-the victim. He was the grandfather of a young woman who would soon be married. She loved her grandpa, but she was embarrassed by the bushy gray hair that covered his whole head and face; the cheap plastic glasses stuck on his nose at a weird angle, the pair of tight, worn, dirty overalls that were his daily attire. I found myself thinking. That guy is a mess!
Ten Hollywood minutes later, out walked a man in a perfectly fitted black tuxedo. He had short, well-trimmed blonde hair and an angelic face. With clear, wrinkle-free skin and bright white teeth, he was downright handsome! The change was remarkable!
When I first came to First Place for Health, I would have paid a lot of money to have someone do an extreme makeover on my physical body. It took a lot of Bible study, sharing and praying, but then one day it dawned on me that the physical makeover I had watched on TV was nothing compared to the spiritual transformation that had taken place in me the day I asked Jesus to be my Lord and Savior. I can imagine the heavenly host watching, stunned at the change, saying, “I can’t believe it! Before Jesus, that woman was a mess!”

Lord, thank You for the makeover that has released my old, sinful nature and made me a new creation. Let all people see You in the new me!
Journal: Do you let your appearance keep you from doing the things God has planned for you? Make a list of the changes you have seen in your life as a result of Christ’s presence. Are those changes more important than thinner thighs?
